The monument to the 142nd Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Regiment is west of Gettysburg on Reynolds Avenue.
The 142nd Pennsylvania was commanded at the Battle of Gettysburg by Colonel Robert P. Cummins. He was mortally wounded on July 1st and died on the 2nd. Lieutenant Colonel Alfred B. McCalmont took command when Cummins fell.
It was dedicated in 1889 by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
